We could play an Undead campaign. We'll all be mindless 1st-level Zombies who'll shamble around the villages looking for brains... brains....

Then there is always the old standby. The King has called for all brave heros to hunt down and destroy a mighty dragon that has been burninating the countryside...

Dustin- Fine. Go get Chinese. And get me the House Special Lo-Mein. Numbah 58. Be done ten minute.

Dustin--Two words buddy spell & check :-P

I LIVE..........

Published by Anonymous on 9/30/2003 02:04:00 PM

Dustin--I thought I gave it to you with the last laptop transfer... Check and see? In any case, I have a pdf of it which I'll bring on Th. Jeremy might have it too...

It adds some background history and feats, pretty similar to the Race chapter in PHB. You still have to combine it with the main FR book to get a full drow character.

Published by Anonymous on 9/30/2003 01:45:00 PM

I was going to suggest playing Caotic neutral, but drow are phaking evil, pardon my french. We will work somthing out.
no, i havn't seen Races of Faerun, where can i get it.

Jeremy--I am hungery too, I could almost eat an entire cat. meeeooowww. I love Chineese

Published by Anonymous on 9/30/2003 01:25:00 PM

Dustin--If we can work out some way to do spontaneous cures, then I'll play an evil cleric. No self-respecting evil cleric would waste prayer time on all cure spells and I doubt an evil deity would even allow that after a while.

If not, someone gets to wear the Cursed Belt of Gender Bending. Have fun. :)

Have you seen the drow info in Races of Faerun? Any idea of the starting char lvl, starting lvl gold (considering the lvl adjustment), etc?

Published by Anonymous on 9/30/2003 01:06:00 PM

I vote for chineese, as always

Yah, sure. I just called Pilot... they said the truck should be here between 3-5pm. Grr...

Jus' show up at my place at around sixish. And like... go get some sandwiches and some chips or something. I'm hungry... ;)

Jeremy-- ya up for Escaflone, sorry if i spelled it wrong.

Published by Anonymous on 9/30/2003 12:11:00 PM

Enh... any day is as good as any other. Weekends really aren't that special when you're clinically unemployed.

The only reason I'm even at the shop today is because I'm waiting for a damned truck to show up. Shipping that PacMan cab. The guy who wanted it is from Texas. He paid me $175 for the cabinet, and told me to bill the shipping costs to his Pilot account. So I just call the trucking ocmpany, give 'em the address, and say "it's his problem."

Pilot told me they'd be in "sometime between eight and five." 8am-5pm. Sunnavabitch...

Why, yes, I did see my computer clock before posting. Are you saying that I didn't have something more important than checking blog posts? If so... *gets out cluestick*

My char wants more info about the jobs; without that, they're pretty equal in her mind.

Jeremy--Check out bored.com

Wait a second... I don't get up before noon unless I have one of those.

Did you happen to check the time stamp of your post. lol

Have you guys decided on which job posted you will be taking.

I don't get up before 9:30 unless I have class, work, or something else major. Wait a second... I don't get up before noon unless I have something important. *yawn* Your full-time job... *waves hand ineffectually in Dustin's direction* is confusing your normal sleep cycle and your memory.

So far we have three votes for Sat., anyone els want to game on a Sat?

Published by Anonymous on 9/30/2003 02:12:00 AM

Brian== I would wait till th. but this seemes the only way yall will blogg.

Published by Anonymous on 9/29/2003 07:05:00 PM

If anyone has a GameBoy Advance and is bored with it (Sacrilege!), use these instructions to hook it up to this. oooooo... 4000 scanlines and terabytes of video... *dreams* Can you imagine the pixellation?

Dustin--Drow Siblings, eh? What about cousins? Either way, we're going to have lots of fun with sibling rivalry... *evil grin*
I agree with Brian that it may be easier to wait until Th to figure stuff out. The main free days in our two schedules are Th and Sat.
The Lusken options are fairly equal, imo. Trolls are the known danger, but the others have some definite hazards... I'd want more details about all three, escape routes, maybe backup.
What, 10 posts in a day is "no one blogging anymore"?

Leon and Brian--I'd like to hear more details about your games, if you have anything definite.

Published by Anonymous on 9/29/2003 06:19:00 PM

Dustin Why not wait until thursday when everyone should be there and just take a pole and or vote on the days that gaming can take place for the whole group. because it seems that there are more game oportunities poping up than there are days available to every one. so hten we can decide on which games everyone is interested in and which day suits everey one

Published by Anonymous on 9/29/2003 05:45:00 PM

Actually, any of those days would work for me. Although I would prefer not to play on tuesday since that would be three work nights in a row gaming. And I could alternate with you on any of those nights with my game. Guess we'll have to see what everyone else is up for.

Drow. Interesting. Could be fun. Level equivalents won't matter as much if we're all drow (althought you ought to keep them in mind when designing encounters)

Published by Anonymous on 9/29/2003 05:33:00 PM

Why dosn't anyone blogg anymore.

Would it be at all possible to switch your game to another day, right now, I would much rather dm than game. Again I leave the dicision up to you. If we cant work it out to where you would feel comfurtable with a day, than I could try to run my other game on Sundays, if I could get enough interest for Sunday game.

If we must fight we will, there can be only one.

Dustin- There really isn't much to discuss. You be is, or you be isn't. I really don't care either way.

You might, though. Shatz and Leon can testify- they've had to suffer through a night with me at one of the game cons. I make a lot of noise when I sleep, and I snore like a fucking chainsaw...

As you guys leave the Counsel Building of Lusken, after dropping of the Lunas councel. You will notice a newly placed bulletin board. You will notice a variety of messages posted.

The Bachanelia street fair begins tonight at midnight and last the entire week, Food, fun and wine will be aplenty, all are encouraged to enjoy themselves.

To all able bodied and strong adventures, a Sea fairing voyage leaving from Lusken Port going to Atlantas will be leaving in one week. You must be willing to spend 4 months on the open sea, pay is negotiable.

A southern outpost near the Great Desert, is having problems with raids from the desert inhabiting barbarians. We are seeking able bodied adventures to help eliminate the raids. Rate of pay is based on success.

The trolls to the north of the city are running rampent, a task force to eliminate the troll threat is being formed. If anyone is interested in killing trolls, sing up with the clerk in the main councle building. Pay will be rewarded per dead troll.

Wayne-- Is Your game going to be continuing.

All-- This is what I have come up with so far. You will be nobles of Esad Laramier, the ninth house of the city. You are all drow. If you are a male, the classes you can pick from will either be wizard or fighter. There will be no male Clerics only female. You must be evil. sience you are all nobles, you must all be siblings.

We will be playing my reguraly scheduled game this Thursday, and If possible, starting the new one the following Thursday.

I just got hired in full time. which unfortunately means that I will be working at the school at leat 30 hours a week, which means less time for extracurricular activities. I should have no problem with my game, but everything els should go.
Jeremy-I would like to talk to you in person about the ramifications of this promotion.

My e-mail is temporarally hosed. it wont be back up for about a week, server overhall or somthing. I will be checking the blogg daily, if anyone needs to get ahold of me.

Jeremy-- would I be able to get ahold of you Tuesday, at the usual place and time?

Published by Anonymous on 9/23/2003 01:31:00 AM

Dustin--Based on the pdfs distro'd earlier, you should have Beyond Monks, Quintessential Samurai, Rokugan, The Way of The Ninja. I grabbed Magic of Rokugan from the website I cited earlier.

It looks like you'll have to run a game loosely based on Oriental rules or do some serious reading. Either way, I suggest running the normal good game this Thursday.

Jeremy--How much of Ranma 1/2 do you have? When you actually have time, could you burn me a CD or DVD with sufficient codecs, basic instructions, and Ranma 4 & 5 (and whatever else of Ranma will fit). A friend up here has new PC running XP, no Divx, scattered Ranma on VHS, and interest in having a more complete series. Whee Shoujo!

I can supply Dustin with PDFs for just about everything Oriental Adventures. I'll let him borrow a few books on Japan, and the Samurai while I'm at it... ;)

Uhm I'm gonna go out on a limb and suggest that some loan, or send in PDF format, Oriental Aventures to Dustin

Published by Anonymous on 9/22/2003 01:10:00 PM

Look, I am new to the oriental adventures story line. what would be accepted class restrictions.

Published by Anonymous on 9/22/2003 12:08:00 PM

"Interpreted as "I will follow the commands of my superior no matter what""

One story regarding Samurai ediquete involves two men who got into an argument in the home of their lord. One man insulted the other, and was cut down for it. However, it is the utmost and ultimate sin to ever draw your blade in the company of a Daimyo. The insulted samurai killed the man who insulted him, then commited seppuku for the dire insult to his lord.

Published by Anonymous on 9/22/2003 04:32:00 AM

Well, as described, I'm not sure why the *party* has to be evil. It seems to me what you really want is followers for your evil overlord. If you stick to a reasonably Japanese society, lawful neutral will work much better. Of course, as has been pointed out in Oriental Adventures and a number of other sources, the D&D alignment system doesn't really work all that well in an Oriental setting, particularly Japan.

I'm also not getting where you're going with that set of class restrictions. If we're peasants, wizard and cleric should be out of the question, not to mention that they don't really belong in a Oriental campaign anyhow.

Published by Anonymous on 9/21/2003 08:50:00 PM

Ok, herer is what is going on in my head. Ive been watching too much animee, not getting enough sleep, dooing too much homework, and need some badguys for my world. the campain will be taking place in a very remote, very large island in the current timeline and world as my other game, on the island, there is only humans, and very few if anything from the monster manual. You might not adhere to the strict samiri and japinees code of ethics and conduct, because this isnt realy Japan. Anything from beyond monk to Quintisential samiri will be approved. If we cant doo the evil thing, I will rewrite what I have done sofar.

This is why blogger existes.

Published by Anonymous on 9/21/2003 08:19:00 PM

There's also the fact that most peasents will take on the opinion that their lord only does what is best for he and his people so they over look his evil acts. Look at the crusades after all. Good is very relative. Even in the DnD world. The only definative "good" that would not be relative is the 'turn the other cheek' approach and when is the last time a good character turned the other cheek to a monster?

Published by Anonymous on 9/21/2003 06:28:00 PM

Dustin--Hmm... I agree with Jeremy (and Leon once he hears about it) that Asian evil is going to be hard to pull off. I guess we could become ronin... but that would lead to pk-ing right and left. What you might be able to do is lawful neutral or lawful evil. (Interpreted as "I will follow the commands of my superior no matter what" or "I will follow the letter of the law, but will twist the meaning to my own ends")

Would it be possible to change the setting to a culture less focused on honor?

If the setting isn't changed, can we pull stuff from Beyond Monk and the other Oriental books?

(I have a lot of stuff to do this week, so any new char will be created Th afternoon anyhow.)

Published by Anonymous on 9/21/2003 03:11:00 PM

Ok, the campain will take place in fuedal japan, gunpowder has just been found, but you will not have access to it. You all are going to be pesants who show some talent. Your Fuedal overlord will insist that you work for him as new trainees, to become protectors of his lands. you will all start at 1st level. the overloard you are being selected for is a rather cruel man, If anyone in the party kills another member of the party, the party will be destroyed. the only resrticted class will be sorcer, the overloard would insist that you learn arcanum from his alchamist. the peasents of this area are verry poor, the overloard will see to all of you needs. the overloards name is Hatchimi Augosaki of the Augosaki clan. Again, you will have to be evil, human, and asian.

P.s.
If nobody wants to play in a new game, I will have my regular Thursday game ready just incase.

Published by Anonymous on 9/21/2003 01:22:00 PM

LS - I think I can trust you to hold on to the book w/o it getting ruined if we can't meet up for me to get it from you.

Published by Anonymous on 9/21/2003 12:21:00 PM

Dustin, I don't know what you're planning, but you're asking for trouble. Evil and Samurai, and Evil and Asian don't go together. At least not as a party, and especially with our group. Honor is more valued than ones own life, and one *perceived* insult will start a duel to the death.

Published by Anonymous on 9/21/2003 04:55:00 AM

Urgent message for everyone who plays thursday...........
Wayne said that he will not be running his game on thursday. I am not going to be playing my regular in his place. I am however going to be runnig a new game this thur, you will all have to be human and asian. starting at first level. you must be evil. there will only be permited to go either wiz, cle, or a fighter on his way to becomeing a master samurai from sword and fist..

Looks like we'll be doing that Th night. I'm kinda leaning towards D20 Modern myself but whether or not I participate will depend more on the schedule than what game we play. Of course, I'll have to hunt down my D20 Modern book. I'm not quite sure what I did with it.

Published by Anonymous on 9/15/2003 10:17:00 AM

Unless two more people post during the next 4 hours (before my class break), I suggest putting off char creation until the end of Dustin's game on Th. We should also discuss an alt day/time (weekend maybe?) so that Dustin could play.

Published by Anonymous on 9/14/2003 06:03:00 PM

Hello All-
If I get at least three people pro-d20 modern I can start tomorrow...if I get a similar number of people pro-Vamp the same can be true. In both cases characters will be made at the beginning of the night then opening in the opening scenes. The d20 modern will be based on a secret org. and new recruits fresh from high school.

Oh, BTW, found something out about The Laughing Ogre. Seems there is a game store there, and it has even more mini's than Guard Tower. You just have to know it's there as the entrance is around back and there's no easily visible sign. Something to keep in mind if we ever do another Columbus trip.

Well Dustin's question has more or less forced me to make a decision.

After I went home last Thursday I decided that I wouldn't make any hasty decisions. After a week I've found that I feel the same way that I did on Thursday, which is as follows. Roleplaying is supposed to be my hobby, you know recreational and relaxing. What it is not supposed to be is yet another source of aggravation and stress. Unfortunately that is exactly what it has become. I would hope that you guys understand that this isn't personal and that I consider you all, well most of you all, to still be my friends. As I stated to Dustin, which I'm not sure that anyone else heard, is that I am done. I shall not be attending either Thursday game, nor shall I be running on Monday anymore effective immediately.

What does this mean? Well first of all I've given Dusty admin rights to the gaming Blog (feel free to email me with questions, it is really quite easy to do). So there is no reason not to continue using this forum to communicate. Secondly those of you who were using me as a resource to help with their games may feel free to continue to do so. Like I've stated before I'm still your friend and would be happy to help.

Wayne--Basically, she's a rogue 5 (or rogue 3/fighter 2) with slow flight, invisibility, non-scaling SR, and low stat mods. If you post a suitably obscured (at for @, etc) email address, I'll get you specific details, and I'll show the sheet to you before game on Th anyways.

John--A nice cliched "Hope you get better soon" :)

Published by John on 9/09/2003 08:17:00 AM

Wayne--I don't know if I'm going to make it Thursday, I threw my back out on Saturday doing yardwork. I've been able to work, but that has been wiping me out. It will depend on how I feel.

My mage isn't going anywhere near that tower of evil magic. (Well, maybe if she had money to buy stuff and the paladins weren't watching...) She knows what she can do by herself, and she doesn't want to think about what multiple high-level evil mages and their students could do. Plus they've prolly got the entire place booby-trapped... *shudders*

please noone come up with a hasty dicision about the Lusken Councel, I have come up with a desent story line to back the black tower in the city. I had underestemated what the tower of necromecy would do to the party, now that we have tested the watters, you guys can decide what is to be done, I would like to hear everyones thoghts as what you want to do next, based on consessis of decissions, we will figure out what will happen next, I appoligise for my inadiquiseys in story planning and developement. Truthfully, I have been doing this hole game on the seet of my pant, which sofar has made for a quite exciting game.

Part of Blogger went down; it happens occassionally.

Arresting an ambassadorial party is typically poor form, but then again, so is letting one die in your city. What seems more likely is that we would be given a "polite" escort to the mage's tower to get us out of the city as fast as possible. It would be an interesting conundrum for the paladins, the party, and Lusken's council though.

I am pleased to see those tempers falling away. Both John and leon Bring unique perspectives to role playing. and the game would be greatly deminished if we all were to loose those perspectives. Thats the wonderfull thing about RPG's that is the adventure can take on a whole new demention and direction by the role play of even just one player. I think perhaps if dusty Thought about it a little he would have tried to arrest us all. hows that for a whole new spin. After the " incident " we were all unable to continue the game. no one cast blame really but rather all were disapointed that this chapter of the game ended abruptly and unresolved. The game was taking off on to a brave new tangent that left all wondering how it would have evolved. Its taken me a long time to find a goup of gamers like this that were not a bunch of young punks that I could not fit in with. I've already begun to form my own story line in my head for my own game when I'm ready. I'm learning a lot from everyone, yes even dusty. It is my sincere hope that both John and Leon reconsider participating in dusy's game so that I may Continue to learn from them both. I really appriciate Leon's knowledge of the game and I am very greatfull for John's patient attention with those of us less skilled at the game it really makes fitting in a lot easier.

Thank you both John And Leon

I'd like to appologize to everyone for last night. I should have handled the whole situation differently, but I've been in a rather bad mood lately for reasons that have little to do with gaming. Still, I was out of line and should not have said what I did. I've decided that it would be best for everyone if I cut back on my gaming for a while. So as of last night, I will no longer be playing on Thursday nights. See you all Monday.

So whatever happened to Dustin, he used to post. Maybe he isn't near a computer anymore, oh wait he works for an IT department :-(

Published by John on 9/04/2003 08:27:00 AM

Dan--Chaos would work well I think. Perhaps even madness muhahahahahahahahahahahahahaha...

Caroline--Yes I have read book 5 and I still think Neville is/was a stupid character. Next thing you know David will be playing red head Ron, you know he has plenty of brothers to be his next character too...... :)

Jeremy--Told you so :-P

Leon--See sometimes my paranoid ranting is not entirely without merit, sometimes....

See everyone tonight for Dustin's game.

Told ya, the more I look at 3.5, the less I like it. Compatible my ass.

Published by Anonymous on 9/04/2003 04:02:00 AM

I'm going back to the 3.0 Druid. I've been looking at the .5 build a bit more, and to play it properly requires not only a modified druid than the 3.0 books, but requires 3.5 feats, and an entirely new 3.5 spell list. (Sumoning spells were all changed in 3.5....)

Fark it. Back to hell with the book that shall not be named. ..!

Storm is from Faerun...Weather from Deities and Demigods

Published by Anonymous on 9/03/2003 04:47:00 PM

If anyone wants the System Reference Document for the game that we actually play...

John--Have you even read the fifth HP book? Neville is a reasonably effective character there, hence the insult. :P Nah, you want us to waste our characters' stuff rather than our characters. ;)

Dan--I'd say Chaos, Trickery, Illusion or Madness. Definitely not Law. Don't know enough about Storm.

Published by Anonymous on 9/03/2003 04:14:00 PM

JS - Chaos? Law? Storm? Madness? The class gets 2 domains at 1st lvl then another 5th and every 5 after so I have to flesh out the domains for most deities.

Work can be such work sometimes!

Published by John on 9/03/2003 02:08:00 PM

Caroline--At least you didn't say you had extra characters on account of my game :)

Published by John on 9/03/2003 02:07:00 PM

Caroline--Yep that is me insulting Neville, but I'm sure new Neville is going to be better :-P

Dan--Do clerics have Trickery and Illusion? That is what I would think.

Published by Anonymous on 9/03/2003 01:01:00 PM

WD - Not sure which deity I'll be following yet...are deities/domains from Kingdoms of kalamar, Deities&Demigods, or Faerun corebook okay?

Published by Dr Who on 9/03/2003 12:35:00 PM

Caroline- The pixie is fine. i would see what the group ends up though......... You know that we are all starting lvl 8?

Dan - it's just a little of left and doesn't qualify as bent or broken yet......

John - Either class is fine, whatever you feel that will be more fun......

All that were there on my thursday -- XP for the group 2200. Jeremy -- Extra xp for effort 800

Published by Anonymous on 9/03/2003 12:06:00 PM

JS - It isn't broken...just bent! After all it is from Dragon, which means it's official. BTW What domains would you think Coyotes gives access to?

Published by Anonymous on 9/03/2003 10:36:00 AM

John--You're insulting Neville! *indignant*
Wayne--I was going to continue playing my pixie, if that's all right. I have a few spare fighters and rogues (from the deadliness of Jeremy F's games) rolled up though.

Published by John on 9/03/2003 08:08:00 AM

Okay I have two characters created for the new Thursday game. As best I can tell this is what we have.

Jeremy: Druid, from that which will not be spoken
Leon: Naughty make things dead guy
Caroline: ?
David: Same old shit (Neville again, except better!)
Dan: Something broken :-P I think you said healer?
Brian: ?
Dustin: ?

Right now I've created a Mage, and a Knight. I'm not sure which one that I want to play.

John, could you bring a blank BESM sheet to tonight's game? I've managed to loose my character since the last game. :/

Sweet new game for the PC. Called Etherlords 2. (I aparently missed the first one...)

It's Magic:TG, and IMO- It's what Magic: Battlemage should have been. Individual Heros wander the map but when you find an enemy you enter a "Duel" layout which is totally ripped off of M:TG. Heroes each have their own life total, but they don't attack each other directly, instead using various "summoned" creatures to do the dirty work. Plus enchantments for the creatures, a few damage spells, etc. Even alot of the ability names were ripped right out of Magic- Flight, First Strike, Trample, etc...

I found it pretty damned sweet- but I've been looking for another game of this style for a while now. Your milage may vary.
