Looks like G1 and G2 models used one type of battery, and the G3s used another, so I'll need to know which you've got. It does look like it uses a small two-pin connector- kind of like a computer fan, so replacing it should be a snap.
G3 batteries are dirt cheap. I can pick them up for about a buck plus shipping. G1 or G2s are closer to $20 shipped.
According to Apple's page, if it has a dock connector on the bottom it's a 3G.
Tell ya' what... just cover the cost of the battery and I'll pop it in no charge.
