hmm... undead Ents... that's an interesting idea :-) I'm not sure how else the forest could become undead... *speaking as player, not character*. Anyhow, the character wouldn't really care if the Ents did become undead. Either the Ents were threatening us (and thus deserve their fate), or they wouldn't be anywhere near the party.

::Under his breath:: Gee... if a little fire bothers her this much, she's going to freak when entire forests become "Undead."

Published by Anonymous on 5/30/2003 10:23:00 PM

Yes, fire IS good for a forest, but not all the time. There has to be enough time for the forest to grow back. Fire is always good for civilized areas. ;-)

But fire is GOOD for a forest. It burns out all the dead growth and makes room for new. It's a rebirth thing. You should be all for it... ;)

Published by Anonymous on 5/30/2003 05:04:00 PM

Anything (good fairies, pixies, unicorns, mobile plants, dangerous animals that pass the saves on my spells) that threatens us is fair game and deserves death. *evil grin* The forest itself will not try to kill us. Why not stick to burning the civilized areas? I'll help!

Published by John on 5/30/2003 04:57:00 PM

What if it was a good forest. Full of pixies, faries, and unicorns, that is okay to kill. Come on work with me here. heh heh heh heh.....

Published by Anonymous on 5/30/2003 04:29:00 PM

Sure, let's go at it. Your weasel has how many HP again? 13? More seriously, if the nature burning continues, the character will either get herself/bear killed in a fight or leave the party (depending on the strength of the opposition).

Wayne--My decision on playing a pixie depends partly on the starting gold. If the char gets no starting gold (as not a 1st-lvl char), then no. First level, probably. 4th-lvl gold, definitely. Yay for having 10 HP!

Well it is up to the individual gamemasters. Like I said my Sunday game and my Monday game are closed.

Published by Anonymous on 5/27/2003 11:49:00 AM

Just an FYI for planning purposes: Meg and Amanda will only be here until the end of June. I'm for closing the games after Matt; we have way too many people as it is.

Published by Anonymous on 5/27/2003 10:05:00 AM

I believed we talked about your Sunday game, possibly Dustin's, and Thursday?

Published by John on 5/27/2003 09:33:00 AM

Player Lists:

Sunday (my game): Dan, Leon, Jeremy G, Jeremy F, Dustin, Caroline, Meg, & Amanda.

Total players: 8, maybe 9 if Matt joins. My Sunday game is closed.

Sunday (Dustin's game): Leon, Jeremy G, Jeremy F, Caroline, Meg, Amanda, myself, & Brian.

Total players: 8, maybe 9 if Dustin is nice and lets Matt play. I recommend that we close the game.

Monday: Dan, Leon, Jeremey G, Jeremy F, Dustin, Brian, Caroline, Wayne. & David.

Total players: 9, maybe 10 if Matt is joining. The Monday game is closed.

Thursday: Dan, Leon, Jeremy G, Dustin, Caroline, David, Meg, Amanda, myself, & the other gamemaster. To the Thursday gamemasters my friend Matt would like to join.

Total players: 10, maybe 11 if Matt can join. I would recommend closing the Thursday game.

Conclusion: Wow we have a lot of players. I think that we should close all the games, I'm closing mine. I wouldn't "freak" out about the game sizes. Meg, Amanda, Dan, & Caroline are also most likely gone at the end of the summer (bummer guys). Plus as we have seen recently with summer and family activities it wouldn't be surprising if we have players missing from many of the games. Just thought I would show everyone this.

They're trying to fight against Marcus, and actually being successful; so they could kill us all w/o breaking a sweat. We have them to "thank" *makes face* for the survival of Greyhawk; we were very lucky that whatever it was happened before we came out of the maze. And how much better than you is that high-level goblin? Squeaky, I think his name is... Go ahead and loot Greyhawk if you want, but don't expect us to rescue your ass from those "good people" and the authorities. *very carefully doesn't watch you leave if you do* Now if they do leave... Wayne--Your game-Hmm... maybe fighter... or rogue. I still haven't had a rogue that didn't die off in a few sessions. *snickers* Any restrictions on PHB races?

John won't be back until vlate tonight or Monday. No clue whether/when you could start, but hopefully, he won't grumble at me for giving you background info. We're at 7th lvl now, so he may allow that or keep it down to 6th. No gnomes, dwarves, half-orcs. No arcane necromancy (and preferably little divine). and eee-vil... so no paladins. We've got a bard (me), cleric/fighter (Dustin), druid (JF), rogue/wizard (JG), wizard (Leon), sorceror (Dave), weird arcane thingy (Dan). Imo, what we could use is a straight fighter or cleric, but we've got the classes generally covered. Oh, and one little thing, we just returned to the city of "total civilian death" that the epic good game failed to prevent. Whee! Again, get his permission before you do much of anything.

John--No, I'm not. :-P I was trying to figure out where else we could play, and making sure everyone else realized that we needed to figure some place out. *bing* John is now in the Friday time zone and is at Marcon, having missed the Th game. Have fun this weekend.

The caster level on the Belt of Bull's Strength is what, 3rd...? 3x a day = 9 hours. Neat. Summoning a dragon mount, good, bad? Are there any good dragons left? Would Marcus immediately seize control over it? Not that I can do that until my next feat anyhow...

Dustin--Depending on how much we get for selling the minor stuff, my belt of Str +6 should be available. (Although a donation would be nice, your char does kinda owe mine 30,000g. She'd never bring it up though.)

Published by John on 5/22/2003 09:22:00 AM

Dustin--Gee take everything already.

Caroline--Now I know you aren't asking Jeremy to let you use his place while he is at work. I mean that would be very uncool.

Is it Friday yet?

Jeremy--How will your work affect using your place for the Sunday game? Do we need to find an alternate location?

Published by Anonymous on 5/21/2003 06:51:00 PM

I'll let everyone know ahead of time, I probably won't make it to the Thursday game. Sunday *might* be scratched as well. Depends on how much work I can get done on this cabinet before then. It -has- to ship Monday.

I've also decided to drop my phone line altogether and pick up a cell. I figure I can get away with it for as little as I actually use a phone, and save close to $300 a year while doing so.

My new number is: (330) 201-4348. I figure I'll have to carry my phone number around in my wallet for a good six months or so before I manage to put it to memory. =) I'm calling to unhook the house phone Friday, so update your records.

It's a hide 15 + change self at will (still look normal to allies).

Although I just found out that I can keep it (epic ch item is a cloak, not a robe), I'm 90% likely to give it to Squeaky since it's more useful to him. The cloak only costs 10,000gp , if he doesn't want to exploit the paladin's generosity ;-) . The Ch 6 cloak is still open, Jeremy (or anyone else).

Published by Anonymous on 5/21/2003 02:52:00 PM

Robe of Blending does what again? Sounds like a Hide bonus. Good for the squeakster.

Published by Dr Who on 5/21/2003 02:30:00 PM

I would like to know also if we are playing on thursday
John- Nice to hear that you can see now. LOOK OUT.

Published by Anonymous on 5/21/2003 01:57:00 PM

John--Between the tiger and locate item spells, everything can be found ok. I was checking when there would be time soon to go back and get it, since most of a city got massacred and all. I'm ruling that the potions outside of the haversack will have broken, but the general magic stuff should be ok.
Group--Sometime we should decide whether the minor magic items are being sold (+2 gloves, etc).

Published by John on 5/21/2003 01:44:00 PM

Yeah you could go back and have the tiger track your stuff down, no problem.

Published by Anonymous on 5/21/2003 12:30:00 PM

John--For the epic game, when will we (or will we?) have enough time to go back and retrieve my stuff?
Group--Once we get my stuff, my cloak of Ch +6 and Robe of Blending will be unused, if anyone wants them. I will have an amulet of natural armor +5, so I'd only want the other amulet as a trade. The wisdom periapt would be neat, but I'd rather have the natural armor; Dustin or Jeremy should have it instead.

We are playing on Thursday, correct?

Monday Game

Sorry guys. Yesterday while at work my glasses fell off of my face in two pieces. Now Wooster doesn't have a 1 hour glasses place, so I had to trek out to Canton to get a pair, since I'm quite blind without them. They took forever, and I didn't get back in Wooster till later. My bad, please forgive...

Published by Anonymous on 5/19/2003 04:55:00 PM

Actually the skin armor does give Brigitt natural armor +5. So the amulet would be almost useless, I'm sure someone else could benefit more from it. All the periapt would really do for me is another +5 AC and a few bonus spells I would rarely (if ever use). Oh and a better spot/listen. Dustin would get the +5 AC (he needs it more) and a +5 to the save DC of his stunning attack and quivering palm, plus any other Wis based powers he aquired from feats.

Oddly enough, none of the other items really help Brigitt all that much except maybe the cloak of the arachnid.

Published by Anonymous on 5/19/2003 02:20:00 PM

Oh yeah... Dustin was nuked, too, wasn't he... (Heheheh....)

I'm very well off right now. My "claim" on the Periphat would be a vote to give it to Bridgette. She gets points for being with us the longest, and being a fellow servant of God.

Anyone technically could use the amulet. None of us have a NA bonus that high. Just have to see who has an Amulet slot open.

Sqeaky could actually make use of those knuckles, now that he's lost his Bloodfangs. If they work as a weapon (turning an unarmed attack into an armed attack) then he's great. If they're still considered unarmed attacks, he'll just take his next level in Monk. He's still sitting on a level, anyway...

Published by Anonymous on 5/19/2003 01:29:00 PM

Oooh. Periapt +10! As much as I'd like one, that really needs to go to Dustin or Jeremy. (Drat these lawful good tendencies).

Published by John on 5/19/2003 09:08:00 AM

For the Epic Sunday game:

Forgot to add in the "kung fu" gnome's treasure. Periphat of Wisdom +10, Boots of striding/springing, Brass Knuckles +10 (adds to your unarmed attacks, but you cannot wear rings), Amulet of natural armor +6, cloak of the arachnid, 3 potions of flight, 2 potions of haste, and a belt of Bulls strength (3x a day).

Jeremy--Ignatia unstable? I don't see it :) It was really all an act to demoralize our enemies, if you don't dig it she will readily stop. I must warn you that I wll continue to take children to sell to the slavers, there is good money in it, and I am evil.

Published by Anonymous on 5/16/2003 10:56:00 PM

Jeremy F: You don't require weapons to have a +enhancement before adding powers, correct? ISTR that you've been doing it that way, but I'm not sure, so i wanted to ask.

Published by Anonymous on 5/16/2003 04:45:00 PM

John, "toning it down" really doesn't involve much. I don't expect her to be a Nun. Your sorc has always been a bit unstable from the start. Ian can deal with that. He isn't all that comfortable around Ignatia, will probably never fully trust her, but- it's not that much more than the usual "evil party" paranoia. The head-in-a-box, hell... she could give the head Bard levels and teach it to sing. Might be good for some extra gold at the inns. ("IIiiiiiii ain't got no... bo-dy! Yeah...!")

Holding a show from the back of his stagecoach to draw a crowd of children in close enough to hit with a flame-hand, before dancing around with her "angry bunny" puppet to burn down the city- that's a bit too much for him. In WW terms, he's convinced she's gone Marauder.

I guess part of it is just getting too into character. I, frankly, have a hard time just picking up and assuming a character without Method acting. I know Ian personally- I know how he thinks, I know his motivations, I know who he is. And he doesn't fit in.

All-We did kinda promise Dustin's char another Cure Moderate Wounds wand. I'll pay for it myself if I have to, but I'd appreciate it if the group contributed some.
John--I'll bring my list tonight, if that's ok. The final list will vary a bit depending on whether you approve an instrument from Faerun, what the guild things cost, whether my char has to pay for a Cure Moderate Wounds wand, etc.

Published by Anonymous on 5/15/2003 10:45:00 AM

Shatz- I'd consider buying an "invisible" bow if the enchantment could be made with a switch. Or if it only effected the ammo. Both would be nice.

All I'm hoping to attempt is akin to adding a silencer and a flash suppressor on your sniper rifle. People still know someone is hiding in the trees... it just takes a bit longer to figure out what mountanside he's on. Besides, the Knockback on the bow would give a good visual clue. Even if you ruled the arrows remain invisible after striking a target, people generally look opposite the direction the body flew. ;) (I'd think the arrows would become visible- arrow breaks, enchantments break, etc... same reason you can't cast a "silence" on an arrow and shoot a Wizard in the chest with it, and expect it to follow him around.)

I'm thinking of collecting specialty bows now. The quiver can hold six of them, so... what one do we need? You got one or two bows for general combat, one bow for extreme distance shots, one bow for stealth operations. Lots of bows with +2-3 each is far cheaper than one +10 Uber-bow that does it all. =)

Published by John on 5/15/2003 08:27:00 AM

Jeremy--Damn even if they hear a bowshot they will just see you standing there innocently looking at them with nothing in your hands. I would have to rule that until they figured it out (Int. roll) they would continue to ignore you and be *gasp* flatfooted. Damn...

Published by John on 5/15/2003 08:25:00 AM

I've sent out email responses to all the requests that were emailed to me, so check your email!

Jeremy G--I'll give you a +10 circumstance bonus to listen checks to hear you bow being fired. I justify this because most times you hear the arrow coming and look in that direction, which of course you can't do with silent arrows. Okay now with the invisible bow, how about we modify the enchantment so that it automatically turns off the moment you drop the bow, whether it is on purpose or accident. I'll also rule that you can "turn" the enchantment off at will. Otherwise it would just be the arrows that are invisible, which could be really cool in a stealthy assasin kind of way. You could actually buy both enchantments, which would be way cool. How does that sound?

Published by Anonymous on 5/14/2003 10:23:00 PM

Shatzer- I'm interested in getting some enchanted arrows. They're *very* specalized, however, and since in this character's entire career I imagine I'll get to pull this trick off maybe once, I'd like to not invest in a full batch of 50 of them. I've noticed that some of the more powerful arrows are sold individually. Would you be OK with that? I'm thinking of buying only a dozen of them.

(Assuming you even OK the enchantments in the first place. These also assume the +1 requirement doesn't apply. It seems that's been officially rule zeroed?)

From Arms and Armor-

Silent- Pg34 (+1) The weapon makes no noise. I was hoping to have this spell operate so that the encantment on the ammo would also eliminate or at least greatly reduce the tell-tale bow "twang" as well as the arrow in flight. If not, I'll need to make changes.

Invisible- Pg31 (+1) The weapon is essentially invisible. Grants a +1 circumstance to hit. Another enchantment I didn't want on the bow itself. I'd be afraid I'd loose the damn thing. (It's only visible to the weilder. As I read this, if one was to drop the weapon in combat, they'd loose the ability to see it, too...) =)

Final Creation: +2 Arrows (Silent, Invisible) = 8,352gp per 50 or 167gp each.

Caroline--Actually what I was trying to tell you is that the bardic items are priced as they should. Which means that when you request items they are going to be really expensive as well. We shall have to roleplay you joining a guild.

Published by Anonymous on 5/14/2003 03:09:00 PM

John-I wasn't expecting a guild discount, just wanted buyer's access to the "special bardic wands" and some of the more unusual magic instruments. Any guild dues? Does the guild care about alignment?
I guess the "following the rules is expensive" comment means "no changing the enchantment configuration of instruments"... Oh well, I'll just have to look through more of the books for a cheap musical instrument I like. :-)

Published by John on 5/14/2003 02:27:00 PM

Caroline--If you follow the rules things are likely to be expensive. Belonging to a guild really won't save you money, it give you access to the more unusual items, but not save you cash.

Published by Anonymous on 5/14/2003 01:18:00 PM

John--How would that affect purchasing stuff (wands and the like)? Also, my bard char wants her lute enchanted, but the instruments in Song and Silence (and in most of the other books) are too expensive (30,000 up) or boring. Can I select my own enchantment types or reduce the pre-constructed capabilities?

Jeremy: The correct answer for a BESM game is: "Excel Saga". Then you get /everything/.

Failing that, something like Nadesico would be neato. Or something like X/1999 if people are getting darker.

I will say though, nothing like Chobits, because who wants to see John mackin' on his own computer? Well, more than usual, anyhow.

I vote for fighting things w/ minds and crit points! Where ever they may be.

Published by John on 5/14/2003 09:53:00 AM

Caroline--You answered your own question. There is a bardic guild that you could join.

Leon--Do you have an idea which guild you want to join. The three choices are White, Gray, & Black. Eh I don't think you would work out well with the White, but the other two are possibilities. Let me know.

Published by Anonymous on 5/13/2003 03:50:00 PM

A bardic guild. I wonder... would burning that guild to ashes and slaying all it's members be considered a good act or an evil act? Hmmn...

We will also kill all mimes. Mimes are easy to kill. Just wait for 'em to get trapped in one of those "invisible boxes"... then you strike.

Published by Anonymous on 5/13/2003 03:41:00 PM

Leon--Hmm... well, if we want to stay close to the city, that basically leaves us with the sewer option, unless the drakes are pretty close. Feel like being reduced to 3HP by con-drainers again?
John--So is there a bardic guild in the city? For access to special bard magicky items and stuff?
Mon Arcane spellcasters--Anybody have access to Nystul's Magic Aura?

Published by Anonymous on 5/13/2003 03:05:00 PM

I would support any option that would leave us with easy access to the city. I am now studying to join a guild and would prefer to have as much access as possible to the city's resources for my studies. Also, I will want to be able to study at the guild once I join, so as to gain the greatest possible benefit from membership. I benefit, you benefit. I suffer...

John: Most of my shopping is going to be for spells. I'll email you a list later.

JG-Pirates schmirates... we just got off the damn island and you want to go back on the water? No way, Wesley! *thinks further* We could take the opportunity to knock someone off the boat... *evil grin* or even become real pirates by taking the pirate prestige class)... *muses* Those are ever-so-interesting ideas, and that's why no pirates!

C'mon... last call fer' becomin' a bunch o' Dread Pirates! Arrrrrrgh!

JS-I vote we go drakehunting, and look for a new pet for the druid on the way there. Two birds with one stone... or fireball. Still kinda eh about the sewers or the ship. The DMG says that "weapons or armor fashioned from mithril are treated as masterwork in regards to creation times, but the masterwork quality does not affect the enhancement bonus of weapons or the armor check penalty of armor." Based on that, is the mithril chain shirt masterwork? If not, I can always sell it and buy something magic (or magic mithril armor).

JG--Superpowers and/or Slayers-type sound neat (as do most of the listed kinds). eh about Kenshin and Oriental-type D&D and Pokemon. I also vote against 12-year-old girls, since I know what it's like to be one. We really don't want to play a game where everything is chibi and kawaii, nor do we want to see John trying to rp said world. Bunnies and unicorns and dolphins, oh my!

All(LS) - It maybe possible to do a charisma check to improve the profit, since John sugegsted that as a use for diplomacy and a Cha. check is an untrain diplomacy check. In the magical girl games aren't there usually older males too? Oh, no wait they usually are gay, evil, or both...usually both.

I'm going to begin writing a BESM adventure and keeping it on file for next time we get a whole in our game schedule. For those that aren't famliar with the system, BESM (Big eyes, small mouth...) is an Anime RPG system. Over-the-top cartoon goodness. =)

Since the Anime world spans across such a huge territory, I'm going to ask anyone who may be interested in playing to vote on what kind of world they'd like to play in. (For those who're already famliar with titles, you could also just say "Kinda like Evangelion..." or "Like Akira..." etc. Anyone voting for DBZ will have the skin flayed off their bodies. If you want to play a brainless monkey that throws fireballs, just vote for "Flame of Recca." You'll accomplish the same thing, but I won't have to kill you. ;D

Some possible sample worlds:

* 15th Century Japan - Samurai, Ninjas, lots of high-fantasy swordsplay. Mostly realistic tech levels. Very low magic. Generally "magic" is handled as special weapon techniques. "Kappazentzu tenchnique! Wind blade!" (Ex. Rurouni Kenshin)

- Similar Alternates:
*Some High tech. Entry-level Mecha (steam powered). Advanced Magic techniqes. (Ex. Raven Tengu.)
*Ninjas vs Evil forces. Undead, zombies, Demons, devils. (Ex. Ninja Scroll.)
*Future Samurai. Terminators, robots, big guns and the ocasional swordsman on a transforming motorcycle.
*Comedy Kung-Fu. With the occasional person who turns into a duck when they get wet. (Ranma 1/2)

* Anime-style AD&D - Classic Swords and Sorcery. Close to home, just with a much more open system. (Ex. Record of Lodoss Wars, Bastard, Legend of Zelda)

- Alternates:
*Just completely over-the-top, with humor and wacky enemies. Excessively large swords, and even larger spells. (Ex. Ruin Explorers, Slayers, Dragon Half)
*Medival and Mecha. Steam/Magic powered robots and general high tech levels. (Ex. Escaflowne, Magic Knight Rayearth)

* Magic Girl - No-one is older than 12, everyone dresses in cute little school uniforms, and everyone has special powers which they use to save the world.
(ex- Sailor Moon, Cardcaptors, Wedding Peach, etc...)

-Alternates:
*You all travel the world capturing small, cute animals. Then you train them to kill and throw them into a pit to fight to the death. (Pokemon)

* Anime Modern - Closer to the current timeline. Cars, guns, hardware, etc. Generally very low magic, low power. (Akira, Riding Bean, Speed Racer)

- Alternates:
*Militaristic. Higher tech levels, tanks, simple mecha, power-armors, etc. (Ex. Bubblegum crisis.)
*Superpowers. Mutants, superheros, supervillians, DBZ, etc...

* Big Robot - An enemy threatens to doom the world. And we have nothing to fight it- except maybe this 90 foot robot we found in the basement. (Evangelion, Giant Robo)

- Alternates:
*Mecha are commonplace. Robots are everywhere. (Ex. Robotech, Macross, Gundam, Transformers)

Or suggest your own.... =)

All - On the "weird" polymorphs. At least from my understanding of the spell (but not nessisarily John's ruling on the spell) it can change one magic item from one to another either in shape (ring to bracer) or with-in a family (gloves dex to gauntlets orger power), wands are iffy as to if they can have their spells changed between lvls or just at the same level. Post wish lists of before and after. John, what's your take on this?

Well, since we're not gaming tonight- about Sunday?

Published by Anonymous on 5/08/2003 02:35:00 PM

Shatz- Just needed some extra time to catch up on the repairs to the MAME cabinet. I lost an entire weekend to SARS, but then I had some chicken noodle soup and some NyQuil and I was fine again.

Oh, Dan's talking of weird item polymorphs reminded me- Would you allow a Miracle spell to change a feat? (Or feats...) Got a couple of old weapon and shield proficiencies Stump has picked up early in his career that are basically just wasted space now. (Exotic Bastard Sword, A few of the TWF feats, etc.) Wanted to scratch the earlier feats and replace them with more Crossbow feats. And if so, at what cost? (5000xp / Wish equiv. per feat / etc?)

Caroline- I've been meaning to print that list out. I'll do it first thing when I get home tonight.

Published by Anonymous on 5/08/2003 02:19:00 PM

all---john, yeah my game was supposed to be tonight, but I'm finishing writing and can't stay awake...I apologize to you all, but I really can't do this tonight. John--Thanks for the Monday offer, but that day doesn't work due to their MTWTh summer classes.
John & other DMs--Sunday and/or Thursday would work though. They're in town from May 18th to June 28th.

JeremyG--Can you post that list of epic group items sometime?

Published by Anonymous on 5/08/2003 10:37:00 AM

I probably won't be making it to the game tonight, anyway...

Published by Anonymous on 5/08/2003 10:37:00 AM

All(sorta) - Anyone that wants me to polymorph any object one of their items or one of the group items in the epic game should talk with John or get me a list of before and afters so I can talk to him.

Published by John on 5/08/2003 08:40:00 AM

Caroline--They can come in Monday.

Jeremy G--Tonight was Jeremy F's game anyway. There is a whole "thing" about the scrolls that I didn't have time to get to on Sunday. Ask me about it at the begining of the next session.

Jeremy F--It is your game tonight, right?

Published by Anonymous on 5/07/2003 05:21:00 PM

Shatz- I'd also noticed the lack of scrolls. Didn't care enough to bring it up outside of the game, though. I figured I'd just ask upon it next session. If they're not there, it just means we've got more ships to chase down. They're called decoys...

Of course, if *I* was going to destroy a city, I'd never put all my wizards on one boat. Even if it was invisible and armed to the teeth. They'd walk. It's so much easier to disguise yourself as a commoner and blend into a city then it is to storm one from above. ::Evil cackles::

All- Jeremy F, are you prepared to run your game Thursday, or are we just taking the day off?

Published by Anonymous on 5/07/2003 05:15:00 PM

DMs-I know we have a lot of people already, but would there be room for 1-2 more players in any of the games? Just for the summer, and they're decent gamers. Girls, if it makes any difference. ;)

Published by John on 5/07/2003 11:57:00 AM

Caroline--I don't always feel the need to "give" a roll so that a player will notice something. Especially when I don't feel that everyone is even paying attention during the games, so I'll just let important information go unnoticed. Also some things I leave up to the player to "put together" himself. It is really fun for me as a DM to see someone make that sudden realization.

Leon--Common stuff is a no brainer, anything else is up to whether you've seen it. As far as what is common we will have to talk.

Published by Anonymous on 5/07/2003 12:06:00 AM

All - I am going to have to quit all my Thursday DnD activity starting this week till *shrugs* this includes DM and player activities.

Published by Anonymous on 5/06/2003 09:21:00 PM

John: Just how strict are you going to be over having seen creatures I want to polymorph into? Do we actually have to have encountered them in game (which would completely cripple the spell), or will you make a determination based on how common the creature should be? Or something else?

Published by Anonymous on 5/06/2003 03:51:00 PM

Epic game--Yes, a "few" disintegrates. *twitch* My point was that their ability to cast 5th level spells (Disintegrate) meant that they had enough 3rd level spellslots to avoid using any of the wands for fireballs, especially with the pearls. Speaking of things we found, we never did find any of those nasty scrolls on this ship, did we? Uh oh. It's a very good thing that the air elementals took the disintegrate fire (and that my paladin doesn't recognize that they were called unwillingly). It's also a good thing that we weren't close enough range for things bigger than fireballs. Otherwise quite a few chars would have been disintegrated--or worse. My paladin is still rolling decent fort saves for disintegrate, but getting hit by a bunch of them would have hurt.

Jeremy--I'm reasonably sure that the city didn't expect more than two, three levels of mayhem, so we may not get paid for all of this. Would the city even have a budget large enough? Besides, I'm more concerned about surviving than getting paid. We're down to four out of the seven "original" group members as it is (you, me, JeremyF, Leon). Lucky we found those other three wandering around (well, lucky that we found one of them)

John-Wouldn't Azimir have thought about the teleportation, considering that the idea had been banned so thoroughly in school and that Necron teleported the whole party at certain points? I (as player) didn't even know about the teleport ban until I started the epic game, which was well after the teleportation in the Monday game. As a character, I would not have any idea, unless one of the two following reasons count. Since bards can get Dimension Door, my bardic mentor may have told me about the teleport ban or I might have learned about it when gathering bardic knowledge.

Published by John on 5/06/2003 03:35:00 PM

Dan--Actually that is funny, I've been waiting on a character to ask how he was doing that. He gets a pass because he works for the guy that causes the hell thing to happen. Too bad nobody in game that saw him teleport any has noticed :)

Jeremy--Counting the mulitple days sleeping I have you guys around 12-13 days. As far as the Sunday game your elementals did exactly what I thought you were going to do with them, they "suck" up attacks.

Published by Anonymous on 5/06/2003 03:12:00 PM

JS - Just had random thought that will likley get answered with a I say so, but...how was Necron teleporting people around at the beginning of the game if hell was an issue?

Published by Anonymous on 5/06/2003 12:49:00 PM

Yeah, they only cast three fireballs and a few disintegrates each (or whatever they did to the air elementals). no big deal for a decent level mage.

A FEW!? Do you have ANY idea the level of SMACK DOWN those wizards could have put on us if the elementals weren't there to suck it up? They KILLED a HUGE elemental w/ the Fort-save damage ALONE! Not including the ones that got turned into dust...

All of which means that you'll just make things much worse. ;)

Yeah. Seeing as how the stuff now can already knock half of us down in one attack, I'm really lookin' forward to what's next. ^_^; Of course, next level (dungeon level- next "rest") Leon could memorize an "extended" rope trick. Once he hits L8, he doesn't even have to use Metamagic. Plus me and Dan w/ Rope Trick, we could technically sleep after each fight if it really got brutal. Assuming we don't get three characters knocked into the negative-thirties again...

I actually don't wanna' teleport out of this dungeon. Which, I guess is a good thing, since we can't. The city has got to be offering up a small fortune in reward by now.

BTW- how many days in-game have we been at this? From the time we landed on the island to now? (Including the extra days spent resting between levels.) I want to start keeping track.

Published by Anonymous on 5/06/2003 09:15:00 AM

Yeah, they only cast three fireballs and a few disintegrates each (or whatever they did to the air elementals). no big deal for a decent level mage.

john-fire bad. fire very bad. We all managed to survive though... I'm impressed about that, since we had three chars far below their con. Between my char getting a cure serious (1/day), dustin's char getting 3 cure mods/day, and leon's char using an extended rope trick, things should be "better" in terms of spells. All of which means that you'll just make things much worse. ;)

Published by John on 5/06/2003 08:32:00 AM

Jeremy--They hadn't even gotten to the wands yet :)

Okay the demon level was lots o fun for me. How did you guys like it?

For the Sunday Game:

Well I hope that you guys had fun. I know that I did ::best "Aussie" impression:: "Throw another paladin on the barbie..." Heh heh heh. You have a neato ship, and a chance to buy all new magic items, how cool is that? What the hell I'm trying to "spin" this as best as I can...

Caroline--Nope sorry...

See everyone tonight, I'm feeling particularly evil. Muhahahahahahahaha....

Published by Anonymous on 5/04/2003 11:19:00 PM

John--You know what? Fireballs are lot more fun when you're the caster (Whee! *casts fireball*) instead of the target (Make the fricking fireballs stop! *dodge dodge dodge singe dodge singe singe singe*). Could my paladin chain Protection from Elements spells together to provide continuous protection? We do have a bunch of 3rd level pearls, but the spell would run out in 1.5 rnds (12 x caster level=144) with the number of fireballs (70 and 105 pts of dmg) she was getting hit with. I don't want two of the spells in effect at any one time; I just want to know whether casting them in separate rnds would allow one to become active after the first one expired due to damage.

Is it possible for someone else to pick up Leon at the comic shop tomorrow? Reply on the Blog.

I didn't sort through any of my PDFs when I made those disks. I dragged them all into one directory and copied them. I have a MMII 3E PDF somewhere... perhaps it was on disk 2. And I don't need Faerun.

Ted-- If we gould get Erick's permision to install my wireless nic in one of his machines, and get one for the laptop, you might be able to play long distance, that would be awsome.
Jeremy-- It could be backlash from the cricket smoking so much:)

John--Have you seen the Warrior Skald prestige class in Races of Faerun? Looks like something interesting for your elven poet in Dustin's game... Also, at next level, my batd will have the 10 ranks in Perform and the 6 ranks in Diplomacy necessary for Virtuoso. Do I have to have the pre-reqs before taking the level, or does just having them at that level let me take that class? Yay for Stabilizing Song and a lute that lets me start one bardic music effect and maintain another (Song & Silence-of course I didn't have that book when I picked the instrument)!
JeremyG--Get Stumpy to cast Heal on you. ;) Otherwise... *hands bottle of cough syrup* voice is necessary for gaming. Keep throat happy.
On a more serious note, burn me a copy of D&D Volume 2 and I'll burn you a copy of the Races of Faerun pdf. You do realize that your Monster's Manual II pdf is 1st ed, right?
All--Raise your hand if you want a copy of the Races of Faerun pdf.

Hey, Ted Fulk (former Battletecher) from Sweden here!

Do you guys blog game summaries after (during) your sessions? That could be cool for the people who can't make it to the session (and for me, who can't afford a plane ticket home).

Something to think about, eh? You could rotate the duties, so no one feels overburdened with work.
